Hey sweet PI girls, during the Easter season, the subjects of redemption and salvation are a primary focus. After all, Easter is a reminder of when Jesus redeemed us all with His precious blood. That’s the ultimate act of love!

Scripture mentions redemption a lot, and rightly so. Here are five of my favorite verses:

“For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life.“(John 3:16)

“In Him we have redemption by His blood, the forgiveness of transgressions, in accord with the riches of His grace that He lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight, He has made known to us the mystery of His will in accord with His favor that He set forth in Him as a plan for the fullness of times, to sum up all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.” (Ephesians 1:7-10)

“He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:13-14)

“There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.” (Luke 21:25-28)

“He sent release to his people, decreed His covenant forever; holy and fearsome is His name.” (Psalms 111:9)

Christ’s blood was the ultimate sacrifice for our redemption. But redemption is not salvation. God redeemed everyone by giving His only son, but salvation is our own to attain.

Christian teaching varies among denominations when it comes to salvation. Where some believe it’s attained through God’s grace in the one act of accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, others believe that the Bible teaches that salvation through God’s grace is an ongoing process that begins at baptism.

Following are some of my favorite scriptures on salvation:

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love He had for us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, brought us to life with Christ (by grace you have been saved), raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavens in Christ Jesus,that in the ages to come He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-7)

“So then, my beloved, obedient as you have always been, not only when I am present but all the more now when I am absent, work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12)

“Now someone approached him and said, ‘Teacher, what good must I do to gain eternal life?’ He answered him, ‘Why do you ask me about the good? There is only One who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.’” (Matthew 19:16-17)

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so no one may boast. For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)
